Professor Gregory G. Maskarinec (May 16, 1951-June 2022) was a member of the International Advisory Board Dhaulagiri Journal Sociology and Anthropology Director at Office Global Health Medicine, Departments Native Hawaiian Family Medicine Community John A. Burns School University Hawai'i. He came to Nepal, in 1977, as Peace Corps Volunteer served mathematics teacher school Jajarkot District. explored Nepali society culture received his MA PhD shamanism. has published several books papers on shamanism, including "The Rulings Night: An Ethnography Nepalese Shaman Oral Texts". In 1981, he won Tribhuvan University's Mahendra Scholarship highly prestigious prize (the Birendra Pranyalankar) from late King Bir Bikram Shah Dev. addition significant contributions Medical Anthropology, Prof. nature-lover, peaceful, devoted generating sharing knowledge, supportive. had good relationships with high-level scholars, literature artists, politicians Nepal. also participated festivals rural areas promoted local arts artists. visited more than 70 districts suffered cancer operations done.
